Despite a federal court ruling claiming the law requiring the annual proclamation of the National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional, President Barack Obama has issued the annual presidential proclamation marking Thursday as National Day of Prayer.

The court ruling is being appealed by our president and that challenge may take years to be settled. In the meantime, Obama will proclaim, and the country will celebrate, National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday in May.
